Making A Change

If you’ve got twitter then you’ll know that recently Leelah  (Joshua) Alcorn committed suicide because she felt there was no other way to cope. Lellah Alcorn was a transgender whose parents played a massive part in her depression and further her death, her tumblr post states that She was treated unfairly by her parents for trying to be who she was. And that made me think. If you’ve ever  heard macklemore’s amazing song same love (if you haven’t then where have you been)  then you will hopefully know that in the song he says “If I was gay I would think hip hop hates me have you read the YouTube comments lately” I want to stand up for what I believe in and let others around me who may be feeling like they are worthless or just confused because they are a) gay or b) going through hard times or c)just sad for whatever reason , I want them to know I’ll be here for them. I want you to know. Leelah didn’t feel like she had anyone and she didn’t want her death to be just another statistic she wanted it to count and mean something, People that are the same sex are being mistreated and when it comes right down to it we are all humans just trying to find love and a place for us to fit and it’s not fair that humans are judging other humans.

when I die I want my children to be proud of me and for me to go, knowing that I did what I believed was the right thing to do.

I want to be free and happy in every aspect of the words but I don’t want that to be at the cost of being a decent person, I want to know that a) I was a good human being who helped in the best ways I could and b) that I firmly stand up for what I want and believe in.

Leelah its tragic you had to leave the world for people to see what effect we can have on people and that we are all equal and should be treated as such.

  1. Today, I went to the beach with my kids. I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter
and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She placed
the shell to her ear and screamed. There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear.
She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is totally off topic
but I had to tell someone!
